Cell Tower Joe here, coming in from a cruising altitude of one story at my office desk. Sorry, that was a little out there, but hey, with the way 2020 is going for a lot of us, who isn’t a little stir crazy right now? Luckily for us who pass time quarantine-style, i.e., looking at our phones, your cell phone is about to get a lot faster. 5G has entered the chat.
The 5th generation of mobile technology, or 5G for short, is the next step in our ever-changing digital world. This new technology will make it easier and faster to stay in touch with your friends & family, even your gadgets at home and on the road. Faster data speeds, safer, more secure connections, and reduced latency, 5G is here to make your life easier, and our cell tower climbers even busier.
One of the critical factors to understand in the 5G rollout is that this isn’t just a reworking of previous technology – it’s a whole new way of communicating. A technological evolution if you will. Mobile devices will experience a significant speed increase while gaining the ability to connect with thousands of other devices simultaneously, all while reducing the carbon footprint on our planet.

So, why do I care? Well, if you’ve been following along, and if you’re still here, I’m assuming that you have been, a considerable part of my job is insuring Cell Tower Climbers. I need to understand these changes and updates to perform at my job better. Along the way, I’ve found that most of this stuff is actually interesting and affects pretty much everyone in my life. That’s why I started writing this blog, not to ramble on endlessly about burgers or towers or albums that I like, but to use it as a tool to get my thoughts on paper. Maybe you find this interesting too, perhaps you are a Cell Tower Climber, and it’s comforting to know that I’m not just writing your policy and filing it away not to cross my mind again until I’m needed. At the very least, it keeps me from being that weird guy at the party, spouting off random cell tower facts I’ve learned over the years. Ahh, yes, parties…remember those? Man 2020, let’s go, it’s been long enough, and we’re ready for a change.
In the spirit of moving forward, here’s to you and yours. I hope you’re staying safe out there, and that we can get through this and back to normal life sooner than later. As always, here it is, my playlist for the week.
Polyphia – New Levels New Devils
Andromida – The Avoid
Tool – Fear Inoculum
You know what to do, hit me in the comments with your current playlists, burgers I have to try, or party facts.
Keep climbin’ – Cell Tower Joe.
